How do I restore access to my account?

If you'd like to move your account to a new device, please follow the instructions in this article instead: How do I successfully move my account to a new phone?

 

Requirements

To restore access, the following actions must have been completed when setting up your account: 

1. Enabled a cloud backup and password.

2. Added your phone number to your account settings.

If you completed these requirements and remember your password, follow the instructions found in section Steps to Restore Access to initiate the process.

Otherwise, skip to the Troubleshooting section for more information.

 


 

Steps to Restore Access

1. Open World App and tick the box to agree with Terms and Conditions

2. Select the Existing account option

Always choose the option to sign in to an existing account.

 

3. Choose how you'd like to restore the account from the list provided

  • Restore with iCloud: Available on iOS devices.
  • Restore with Google Drive: Available on Android devices. 
  • Recover lost World ID: Option is still not supported.

Unfortunately, cross-platform recovery is not supported at this time. Our current system only allows recovery between devices using the same operating system (iOS to iOS or Android to Android).

 

4. If you backed up your account before on the same device, the backups will appear for you to select. Tick the boxes of the backup that you wish to restore to continue

5. If a backup isn't detected, you'll be prompted to enter in the password to your account. Enter your password to continue

6. If you entered a correct password, your account access will be restored

Troubleshooting

Select a scenario from the options shown below to follow the applicable troubleshooting instructions.

 

I didn't set a backup or a phone number in my account settings.

If you didn't enable a cloud backup, then it is not possible to recover your account.

If you didn't add your phone number, it won't be possible to reset your password in case you forget it.

My backup is saved in iCloud / Google Drive, but I want to restore it on an Android / iOS phone.

Cross-platform recovery is not supported at this time. Our current system only allows recovery between devices using the same operating system (iOS to iOS or Android to Android).

 

I forgot my password.

World App does not have access to your password or your private keys. The option to restore your password can be used if you initially added your phone number to your account settings. Proceed as follows:

1. Tap the Forgot password? button

2. Tap the Forgot password? button to continue

3. Enter the verification code sent via SMS to your phone number

4. Reset the password

5. Use this password to continue with the process to restore account access.
