If you're switching to a new phone and want to ensure a smooth transition of your account without issues, follow these steps:
Before Switching Phones
1. Be sure to back up your account.
Use Google Drive or iCloud to back up your account on your current phone.
This ensures your account details are saved securely and can be restored on your new device.
2. Update your phone number.
If your new phone has a different number than your current phone, enter Settings on your current phone and select Phone number to insert your new number.
You'll need to do this in case you need to later receive a verification code in order to update your password.
3. Remove World App from your old phone
Delete World App from your old phone. Only do this once you're completely sure that you have successfully backed up your account and have access to your password.
Make sure the app is unlinked from your Google Play or iOS Store account.
Please Note:
World App does not have access to your password or private keys.
Recovery is only possible if the following steps were completed during the initial setup of your account:
- Adding your phone number to the app.
- Enabling cloud backup (Google Drive or iCloud).
Why can’t I log out of my account?
For security and user experience, the option to log out is intentionally unavailable. This ensures that only one account is linked to each device.
Move Your Account to a New Phone
1. Select Existing Account.
Open World App on your new phone and choose the Existing Account option to restore your account from a backup.
It is very important that you do not select New Account, which will force you to create a new account and prevent you from restoring your old account.
2. Choose Backup Method.
Select the method you'd like to use for restoration from the list provided (i.e., Android Account through Google Drive or iPhone Account through iCloud). Make sure your Google Drive or iCloud accounts are signed in on your new phone before reaching this step.
3. Restore from Backup.
If you backed up your account previously, the backups will appear for you to select. Choose the correct backup to restore your account.
4. Enter Your Password (if needed).
If a backup isn’t detected locally, you will be prompted to enter your account password. Enter your password correctly to restore your account.
5. Account Successfully Restored.
If a backup exists, your account will be restored on your new phone.
What If I Didn’t Enable Backup or Add My Phone Number?
Remember, if you didn’t:
- Add your phone number to your account.
- Enable cloud backup during the setup.
It will not be possible to recover your World App account and wallet.
To avoid this issue in the future, make sure you enable cloud backup and link your phone number as soon as possible.
